(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 6)--After a three-game road trip, the McKendree University volleyball team returns to the Melvin Price Convocation Center to host Maryville University and the University of MIssouri-St. Louis in Great Lakes Valley Conference weekend action. The Bearcats will face Maryville on Saturday at 5 p.m., before taking on UMSL on Sunday at 1 p.m.
McKendree enters the weekend with a season record of 6-11. The Bearcats are 2-5 in GLVC play, and sit in sixth place in the conference's East Division. Maryville comes to Lebanon with an overall mark of 2-14, while the Saints are 1-6 in the GLVC West Division. UMSL, which is also a member of the GLVC West, entered the weekend with a 5-11 record on the year, but the Tritons sit in third place in conference play at 4-3.
Both weekend opponents were on the McKendree schedule last season when the Bearcats played as an independent. Maryville and UMSL both won in four sets, with each match taking place at the Melvin Price Convocation Center. Maryville defeated the Bearcats on Sept. 7, 2011, while the Tritons topped McKendree less than a month later on Oct. 5, 2011.
Following this weekend's play, the Bearcats will have five days off before heading to the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Challenge Oct. 12-13 in Aurora, Ill.
