(LEBANON, Ill., Dec. 7)--The Harry M. Statham Sports Center will be a busy place on Saturday when the Bearcats play host to MacMurray College. Tip-off of the non-conference affair is set for 7 p.m.
Earlier on Saturday, the Bearcats will hold their annual Alumni Game, where former stars return to show off their skills. The Alumni Game is set for a 2 p.m. start. Former McKendree players will then reconvene at the MacMurray tilt and will be introduced to the crowd at halftime.
The McKendree men's basketball team will take a four-game win streak into Saturday night's contest. The Bearcats are 4-3 overall and will be in game five of a six-game home stand. McKendree last played on Tuesday, defeating Principia College by a 92-46 score. Junior guard
Clinton Happe (Evansville, IN/F.J. Reitz), who currently ranks second in the Great Lakes Valley Conference in scoring at 20.1 points per game, led all scorers with 23 points against the Panthers. Senior guard
John Steppe (Effingham, IL/St. Anthony), the reigning GLVC Player of the Week, notched his third double-double of the year with 18 points and a career-best 14 rebounds.
MacMurray College will enter Saturday's match-up with a 4-3 overall record. The Highlanders are led by sophomore center Clayton Whitlock, who is averaging 16.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per contest.
The teams also met last season in Lebanon, with McKendree battling to a 71-55 win back on Feb. 4.
McKendree will wrap up its home stand on Tuesday (Dec. 11) against Robert Morris University-Springfield. Tip-off will be at 7 p.m. The Bearcats will then wrap up the first half of its 2012-13 season in Nashville, Tenn., on Dec. 15 against Trevecca Nazarene University. Start time will be at 4 p.m.
