Box Score (Lebanon, Ill., Sep. 16)- The McKendree University women's soccer team dropped a close Great Lakes Valley Conference match to visiting No. 19 Quincy University on Sunday, 2-0.
The Bearcats fell to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the GLVC after suffering their first conference loss as members of the conference. McKendree will travel to St. Louis, Mo., on Wednesday, September 19 for a rescheduled conference match at Maryville University at 4 p.m. Head women's soccer coach
Tim Strange currently has 199 career victories at McKendree and will be trying to reach the 200-win milestone on Wednesday.
Quincy held an advantage in shots in the first half, 7-1, but only managed to put three on goal in the first 45 minutes of play. The Lady Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute on an unassisted goal by Brittany Casey and McKendree found itself headed into the half trailing by a goal.
The Bearcats offense had opportunities in the second half, but a goal by Quincy's Emma Walker in the 65th minute extended the Lady Hawks lead to 2-0. The Bearcats increased its offensive production with seven second half shots, but its lone shot on goal was saved by the Quincy goalkeeper.
Junior goalkeeper
Maggie Dudas (St. Peters, Mo./Ft. Zumwalt South) grabbed six saves for McKendree in the match, but fell to 3-1 overall with the loss.
