(ST. CHARLES, Mo., Oct. 11)- The No. 17 McKendree University Wrestling team made a statement in its debut on Friday night by earning wins over No. 4 Lindenwood University and No. 5 Missouri Valley College.

The Bearcats improved to 2-0 and will travel to St. Louis, Mo., on Saturday, Oct. 19 to comepete at the Spartan Duals hosted by Missouri Baptist University. Matches are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.

McKendree tied Lindenwood, 24-24, but earned the win on criteria by having more wins by pinfall in the dual. Freshmen Kassi Strano (Battle Ground, Wash./Battle Ground), Lindsay Spjut, and Olivia Seppini all had wins by pinfall to pace the Bearcats in the upset win.

McKendree started its dual against No. 5 Missouri Valley with five wins by forfeit, and picked up wins by graduate student Sonia Beri (San Jose, Calif./Mt. Pleasant) and freshmen Andrea Ruiz (Covina, Calif./Northview) to be the difference in the 27-20 victory.

The Bearcats also earned a 39-8 win over Lindenwood University (Black) at the event.
