(ST. LOUIS, Mo., Oct. 19)- The No. 17 McKendree University women's wrestling team upset two higher ranked teams on Saturday on its way to a 2-2 record at the Spartan Duals hosted by Missouri Baptist University.

The Bearcats improved to 4-2 overall and will travel to Oklahoma City, Okla., on Oct. 25-26 to compete at the Oklahoma City University duals.

McKendree dropped its first match of the day, 31-14, to No. 8 Missouri Baptist University. Freshman Kassi Strano (Battle Ground, Wash./Battle Ground), graduate student Sonia Beri (San Jose, Calif./Mt. Pleasant), and freshman Olivia Seppinni (Rocklin, Calif./Rocklin) all had victories in the loss, at 109 pounds, 136 pounds, and 143 pounds, respectively.

The Bearcats bounced back with a 39-3 victory over No. 11 Waldorf College in its second match of the day. Freshmen Anna Divins (Lancaster, Calif./Lancaster) and Gabby Wehyrich (Fremont, Neb./Fremont) both had wins by pinfal and tech fall, respectively, in the victory.

McKendree fell in its third match of the day to No. 9 University of the Cumberlands, 35-8. Wehyrich was the lone winner in the dual, earning a tech fall win at 130 pounds.

The Bearcats picked up their final victory of the day in its last match, 31-18 over No. 10 Midland University. Fresmen Lindsey Spjut (Montgomery, Texas/The Woodlands), Brianna Andazola (Ontario, Calif./Chaffey), and Seppinni all had wins by pinfall in the match, while freshman Robin Torres (Rowland Heights, Calif./John A. Rowland) earned a win by tech fall to help McKendree to the win.
