(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 8)- The No. 13 McKendree University women's wrestling team won three matches by fall to pick up a 29-16 win over No. 9 Missouri Valley College on Friday.

The Bearcats improved to 9-5 overall and will travel to Marshall, Mo., on Saturday, Nov. 16 to compete at the Missouri Valley College Open.

McKendree jumped out to a 10-0 lead following forfeit wins at 101 and 109 pounds,but dropped a 6-4 decision at 116 pounds to have its lead cut to 11-3. Freshman Lindsey Spjut (Montgomery, Texas/The Woodlands) earned a pinfall win over Sharice Schell at 123 pounds to extend its lead to 16-3, but the Vikings responded with a tech fall win at 130 pounds to cut the lead to 16-7.

Graduate student Sonia Beri (San Jose, Calif./Mt. Pleasant) and freshman Olivia Seppinni (Rocklin, Calif./Rocklin) won back-to-back matches at 136 and 143 pounds, respectively, by fall to increase the Bearcats lead to 26-7. Freshman Robin Torres (Rowland Heights, Calif./John A. Rowland) earned a 9-0 decision win over Anissa Abrego at 170 pounds to claim McKendree's final win of the night and seal the 29-16 win.
