The McKendree University women's soccer team kicks off its 2013 Great Lakes Valley Conference campaign with two games this weekend.
The Bearcats travel to Louisville, Ky., to face Bellarmine University in the GLVC conference opener on Friday afternoon at 3:55 ET. The Knights are currently 0-1-1 overall this season.
McKendree will return to Lebanon to host University of Southern Indiana on Sunday, Sep. 15 at Noon. The Eagles are 2-0 overall this season.
CONFERENCE OPENER: The Bearcats are looking to win their second-consecutive GLVC opener after defeating University of Missouri-St. Louis last season, 4-1.
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS: Bellarmine enters the weekend with an overall record of 0-1-1. The Knights tied Ohio Dominican, 1-1, on Sep. 5, before dropping a game at Kentucky Wesleyan, 2-1, on Sep. 8. Senior midfielder Lauren Boyd and junior forward McKenzie Combs each have one goal for Bellarmine this season. The all-time series is tied, 1-1, between the two schools, with Bellarmine defeating McKendree, 1-0, last season on Oct. 24.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES: Southern Indiana enters the weekend with an overall record of 2-0. The Eagles have posted two shutouts so far this season, defeating Ohio Dominican 2-0 on Sep. 7, before picking up a 4-0 win over Urbana University, 4-0, on Sep. 9. Six different players have scored a goal for Southern Indiana this season. The Eagles lead the all-time series, 5-4, and defeated McKendree, 3-0, on Oct. 19 last season.
MILESTONE WATCH: Senior Amy Cassiday (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) currently ranks in the top 10 at McKendree in multiple career categories. She's tied for fifth with nine game-winning goals, sixth with 32 goals, and eighth with 72 points. Senior Maggie Dudas (St. Peters, Mo./Ft. Zumwalt South) is currently tied for fifth all-time at McKendree with 11 wins and is tied for ninth with 76 saves.
