Box Score 2 (PENSACOLA, Fla., Sept. 6)—The McKendree University volleyball team was defeated twice on Friday in its 2013 season opener at the Hemingway's Invitational at the University of West Florida. The Bearcats were swept by No. 18-ranked Wheeling Jesuit University (25-13, 25-14, 25-12) in the first match before falling in three sets to Florida Tech (25-22, 25-22, 25-21) in the nightcap.
McKendree will look to bounce back Saturday in its final two games of the Hemingway's Invitational. The Bearcats will meet Albany State University in the first match of the day Saturday morning before wrapping up the trip with a late afternoon contest versus the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
Freshman outside hitter
Bailey Kampwerth (Breese, IL/Mater Dei) debuted in strong fashion on Friday for McKendree. Kampwerth led the Bearcats in kills in each match. She put down 10 attacks against Wheeling Jesuit before posting 12 kills in the Florida Tech contest. Senior outside hitter
Maureen Nesbit (Belleville, IL/Althoff Catholic) added eight kills versus Wheeling Jesuit, while junior right-side hitter
Kelsey Johnson (Aviston, IL/Breese Central) connected for eight attacks against Florida Tech.

Rebecca Nauman (Yorkville, IL/Yorkville) handed out 59 assists on the day, including 33 in the Florida Tech match. Senior libero
Maddie Kelly (Lake Saint Louis, MO/Timberland) dominated the back row with 24 digs, with 14 coming against Wheeling Jesuit.
