(LEBANON, Ill., Jan. 25)—The McKendree University men's track and field team participated in the Greyhound Classic on Saturday in Indianapolis, Ind. The day-long meet was held at the University of Indianapolis.
 
Blake DeLong (Hillsboro, IL/Hillsboro) added another highlight to an already-stellar senior season by hitting an NCAA provisional qualifying mark while winning the 3,000-meter run. DeLong pulled away from the field to cross the finish line in a final time of 8:31.41. In the fall, DeLong became McKendree's first NCAA All-American with a 17
th-place performance at the Division II Cross Country National Championships.
     
Sophomore 
Cameron James (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) brought home the Bearcats' other first-place finish on Saturday. James took top honors in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.90 seconds. McKendree had two of the top three finishers in the race as sophomore 
Donovan Friscia (Jacksonville, FL/Bartram Trail) placed third with a time of 6.99 seconds. Freshman 
Eddie Lusk (Maryville, IL/Triad) was ninth in the field for the 60-meter dash at 7.16 seconds.
 
In addition to his win in the 60-meter dash, James nabbed fourth place in the 200-meter dash in 22.70 seconds. Friscia took ninth in the event at 23.20 seconds.
 
In the 400-meter dash, freshman 
Grayson Horton (Crest Hill, IL/Joliet Catholic) raced to a third-place finish at the Greyhound Classic. Horton crossed the finish line with a final time of 52.76 seconds. The Bearcats' other top-10 showing in running events came in the mile, where sophomore 
Erick Korir (Eldoret, Kenya/Segero) took sixth place with a time of 4:31.05.
 
There were three Bearcats that placed high in field events. Freshman 
Andrew Ernest (Oswego, IL/Oswego East) took sixth place in the long jump with a distance of 6.57 meters. Senior 
E.J. Rahar (Troy, IL/Triad) cleared a distance of 13.88 meters to bring home eighth place in the weight throw, and freshman 
Alex Fritch (Centralia, IL/Centralia) tied for seventh in the high jump with a top effort of 1.83 meters.
 
McKendree will compete next in the Indiana Relays Jan. 31-Feb. 1 in Bloomington, Ind.
