he McKendree University women's volleyball team will wrap up its 2014 regular season schedule with a northern road trip to face the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Friday and Lewis University on Saturday. The Bearcats will tangle with UW-Parkside Friday at 7 p.m. before capping the regular-season slate with a 3 p.m. first serve at Lewis.

McKendree enters the final weekend of the 2014 regular season looking to solidify its seed for next week's Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament, which will be held Nov. 13-15 at the EastSide Centre in East Peoria, Ill. The Bearcats will be making their first-ever appreance at the GLVC post-season event, but the team will be trying to make one final move in the conference standings on the road against the Rangers and Flyers. McKendree currently owns a 17-11 overall record and a 10-6 mark in the GLVC East Division. The top three teams in each division plus two wild cards based on league record qualify for the GLVC Tournament.

The Bearcats wrapped up their home slate on Wednesday with a thrilling five-set victory at the Statham Center against the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Freshman outside hitter Arela Williams (San Diego, CA/LaJolla Country Day) dominated the stat column by putting down a career-high 30 kills while hitting better than .400 against the Tritons. McKendree was able to avenge an early-season loss to UMSL while picking up a big region victory in the process. The Bearcats entered the contest ranked ninth in the latest regional rankings and sat behind the Tritons in the poll.
