(Lebanon, Ill., November 12) - The McKendree University volleyball team will wrap up regular season play with a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference road matches this weekend. The Bearcats will travel to Louisville, KY for a Friday night match against Bellarmine University before closing out the season with a Saturday afternoon tilt against the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, IN.
McKendree enters the weekend with a record of 20-9 overall and a 14-2 mark in the GLVC. The Bearcats need just one win to clinch their first ever GLVC East Division title.
Sophomore outside hitter
Arela Williams (San Diego, CA/LaJolla Country Day) continues to lead the Bearcats posting 401 kills and 384 digs. Williams is second in the GLVC in kills per set averaging 3.55. Junior middle hitter
Sophie Fairman (Staunton, IL/Staunton) is second on the team with 272 kills and first in blocks with 118. Fairman is second in the GLVC in hitting percentage at .375 and is the reigning GLVC offensive player of the week. Junior outside hitter
Allison Schneider (St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh) rounds out the top three attackers for McKendree with 235 kills adding 259 digs.

Aubry Dickmann (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) paces the Bearcats with 698 assists, averaging 6.23 per set along with 221 digs, splitting time with freshman setter
Morgan Melchert (Mt. Vernon, IA/Mt. Vernon) who has handed out 490 assist while stuffing 194 attacks. Sophomore outside hitter
Amanda Geiger (Tomball, TX/Concordia Lutheran) and senior right side
Taylor Voss (Breese, IL/Breese Central) are solid offensive options as they have each topped 155 kills on the year. Voss is also second on the team in blocks with 70. Senior middle hitter
Lauren Apetz (Glenwood, FL/DeLand) and red shirt junior
Hannah Wessel (Waterloo, IL/Gibault Catholic) have each stepped into expanded roles of late providing valuable support as Apetz has tallied 125 kills and Wessel has averaged 2.12 kills in just 16 sets. Sophomore libero
Ashly Schmitt (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) has provided a valuable defensive asset from the back row averaging 3.38 digs per set for McKendree.
ABOUT BELLARMINE
Bellarmine posts a record of 10-20 overall and is currently 2-14 in the GLVC. The Knights are led by sophomore outside hitter Megan Kimbley who has a team high 268 kills along with 98 digs and 35 blocks. Fellow sophomore outside hitter Margaret Horihan is second on the team with 263 kills to pair with 161 digs. Junior outside hitter Ashley Jefferson round out the top three scorers with a line of 251 kills, 99 digs and 44 blocks. Sophomore setter Allie Muha has totaled 1046 assists for Bellarmine averaging nearly 10 per set to go with 275 digs. Freshman libero Jordyn Kuchenbrod has provided stability in the back row with 594 averaging 5.17 per set. The Knights dropped a 3-1 decision to McKendree on Oct. 3rd in Lebanon, and are 2-14 against common opponents, while the Bearcats hold a 14-3 record in those matches.
ABOUT UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN INDIANA
Southern Indiana has tabbed a 20-9 overall record along with a 9-7 line in GLVC play. The Eagles enter the weekend on a three-match win streak and hope to dethrone McKendree on senior day as the vie for a shot at the GLVC tournament. Southern Indiana is paced by senior right side Erica Oberbroeckling who leads the team in kills with 321 averaging 3.06 per set. Oberbroeckling is also second on the team in digs with 292. Sophomore outside hitter Shelbi Morris has also reached the 300 kills mark with 304 kills and 266 digs. Senior middle blocker Abbey Winter is the final prong of the Eagles three headed attack landing 297 kills with a team high .327 attack percentage. Winter is also first on the team with 132 blocks. Southern Indiana has a similar dual threat at setter with junior Quin Shoultz leading the way with 677 assists averaging over ten per set. Freshman Erika Peoples is the other primary setter for Southern Indiana handing out 423 assists while averaging 7.55 per set. Sophomore defensive specialist Shannon Farrell leads the Eagles in digs with 516 as she looks to fend off the Bearcat attack. Southern Indiana was swept by McKendree on Oct. 2nd in Lebanon, and has a 9-7 record versus common opponents. The Bearcats have a 13-3 record against similar opponents.
