(LEBANON, Ill., Nov. 3) -- The McKendree University volleyball team hits the road for the final time this season with a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference matches. The Bearcats square off with Drury University Friday at 7 p.m. in Springfield, MO before closing out the weekend Saturday with a 5 p.m. tilt against Missouri S&T om Rolla, MO.

McKendree enters the weekend with an overall record of 16-9 including an 11-2 clip in GLVC play that puts them in second place in the East Division.

In the latest Great Lakes Valley Conference statistical report, McKendree ranks third in the league in attack percentage (.232) and fourth in the league in kills (13.36 per set). The Bearcats are also sixth in blocks (2.07 per set) and fourth in assists (12.50 per set).

McKendree is paced offensively by junior outside hitter Arela Williams (San Diego, CA/LaJolla Country Day) who ranks second in the GLVC with an average of 3.55 kills per set to go with 3.28 digs and .48 blocks per set. Senior right side Allison Schneider (St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh) is second on the team with an average of 2.87 kills per set along with 1.77 digs per set. Senior middle hitter Sophie Fairman (Staunton, IL/Staunton) is third on the team with 2.30 kills per set while leading the GLVC in attack percentage at .390. Junior right side Amanda Geiger (Tomball, TX/Concordia Lutheran) is the only other Bearcat averaging over two kills per set at 2.13.

Sophomore setter Morgan Melchert (Mt. Vernon, IA/Mt. Vernon) leads McKendree in assists per set at 5.62 to pair with 1.70 digs per set while senior setter Aubry Dickmann (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) has averaged 5.31 assists per set and 1.62 digs per set. Freshman outside hitter Kelly Voss (St. Rose, IL/Mater Dei ) has contributed 1.40 kills and 1.97 digs per set. Junior middle blocker Carissa Lorenz (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way West) leads the Bearcats with 1.00 blocks per set that ranks sixth in league play and freshman libero Alissa Zeitelhack (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley West) averages 2.66 digs per set from the back row to aid the Bearcats defensive efforts that rank fourth in the league in opponent hitting percentage at 1.71.

ABOUT DRURY UNIVERSITY

The Panthers enter the weekend with a record of 17-9 and sit fourth in the West Division with a record of 8-5 in league play. Drury is led by senior setter Brooke Antenen who leads the team in both kills and assists with 2.86 and 6.35 per set. Antenen has also averaged 2.60 digs and .54 blocks per set. Sophomore outside hitter Bentley Mara is second on the team with 2.36 kills per set. Sophomore outside hitter Emmalee Chrest is third on the team with an average of 2.25 kills per set to pair with 2.36 digs per set. Sophomore middle blocker Tori Foster leads the team in blocks per set at .77 while averaging 1.95 kills. Senior libero Abbey Bart leads the Panthers from the back row with 5.29 digs per set which ranks fourth in the GLVC. Drury is 9-6 versus common opponents of McKendree this season while the Bearcats are 11-4 in those matches. McKendree swept the Panthers 3-0 in the team's only meeting a season ago.

ABOUT MISSOURI S&T

The Miners head into the weekend with a record of 9-16 including a 4-9 mark in GLVC play. Missouri S&T is paced by sophomore outside hitter Carlie Combs who has a team high 2.86 kills per set along with 1.21 digs per set. Junior outside hitter Claire Friedlund has put down 2.75 kills per set to go with 1.32 digs per set. Sophomore middle blocker Carson Talley rounds out the top three attackers for the Miners with an average of 2.41 kills per set to pair with a team high .71 blocks per set. Junior setter Alexis White ranks third in the GLVC in assists per set at 9.99 while averaging 2.45 digs per set. Freshman libero Corinne Stulce has stuck a team high 4.43 digs per set for Missouri S&T. The Miners hold a record of 4-8 versus common opponents of the Bearcats this season while McKendree is 10-2 in similar matches. The Bearcats topped Missouri S&T 3-2 in the team's only match last season.
