Schutt Paces Bearcats Finishing First In The 800-Meters At Friday Night Special

Junior Kaitlyn Schutt placed first in the 800-meter to lead the Bearcats.

(LEBANON, Ill., Feb. 20) – The McKendree University track and field team traveled to Charleston, IL Friday night to compete in the Friday Night Special hosted by Eastern Illinois University.

The Bearcats travel a partial squad to compete in the event a tallied four top five finishes between the men's and women's programs.

Junior Kaitlyn Schutt (Benton, IL/Benton) took home a first place finish for McKendree in the 800-meter with a finishing time of 2:24.06. Junior
Melissa Calcara (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) finished seventh with a time of 2:30.00.

Sophomore Mollie Bowman (Sullivan, IL/Sullivan) placed fifth in the triple jump, posting a distance of 10.9-meters.

On the men's side freshman Coree Harrell (Bloomington, IL/Bloomington) showed the way finishing with two top five distances in both the Triple Jump and the Long jump. Harrell placed fourth in the Triple Jump after going 13.02-meters and landed in fifth place in the Long Jump with a distance of 6.5-meters.

The Bearcats are back in action next weekend for the Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Championships in Kenosha, WI.
