(LEBANON, Ill., April 28)--The McKendree University will play its final weekend series at Hypes Field for the 2016 regular season when Lewis University comes to Lebanon for four Great Lakes Valley Conference contests. The Bearcats and Flyers will battle Friday and Saturday, with first pitch set for noon each day. The series was originally slated to be held Saturday and Sunday, but was moved up a day due to the weekend weather forecast for the Metro East area.
McKendree brings a 13-27 overall record and 5-15 GLVC mark into the four-game set against Lewis. The Bearcats were swept last weekend at Saint Joseph's College, dropping the last two contests by identical scores of 3-2. In addition to hosting Lewis for the final weekend series of the year at Hypes Field, the McKendree baseball program will also mark Senior Day following Saturday's first game. The Bearcats will honor six players who are wrapping up their final season at McKendree: pitcher
Austin Avalos (Ballwin, MO/Parkway South), catcher/outfielder
Connor Davault (Farmington, MO/Farmington), catcher
Kyle Jackson (Hoffman, IL/Carlyle), infielder
Adam Kunkel (Red Bud, IL/Red Bud), pitcher
Sam Lidisky (Swansea, IL/Althoff Catholic) and pitcher

Keith Rogers (Marshall, IL/Marshall) (.340) and Kunkel (.300) are the other regulars in the Bearcats' lineup hitting above the .300 mark entering the Lewis series. After 14 appearances out of the bullpen to start the season,
Matt Henning (Wichita, KS/Bishop Carroll) made his first start of 2016 at Saint Joseph's, giving up six hits over five innings with four strikeouts in taking the game one, 3-2 loss on Sunday.Â
