COMPLETE RESULTS (LEBANON, Ill., April 4) – The McKendree University men's track and field team earned a seventh place finish at the Wash-U Invitational hosted by Washington University in St. Louis, MO this weekend. The meet played host to 44 universities competing in 20 scored events.
The Bearcats landed 17 top ten finishes to pull in a team score of 42.83.
Junior
Donovan Friscia (Jacksonville, FL/Bartram Trail) highlighted the day for McKendree with his second place finish in the 100-meter with a time of 10.48 seconds that places him first in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and seventh in the nation. Junior
Cameron James (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) took home a sixth place finish followed by teammates
Kevin Witcik (Machesney Park, IL/Harlem) and
Dominick Pickens (Springfield, IL/Lanphier) who tied for tenth. Witcik also placed ninth in the 200-meter.
Freshman
Demontez McCray (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon) placed second in the 400-meter with a time of 48.66 seconds with fellow freshman
Tyree Allen (Country Club Hills, IL/Hillcrest) coming in tenth place after finishing in 50.56 seconds.
Freshman
Christian Neal (Bloomington, IL/Bloomington) cracked the top ten in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.29.
The Bearcats 4x100-meter relay team of Friscia, McCray, James, and Witcik tallied a second place finish with a finishing time of 41.16 seconds. The time currently ranks first in the GLVC this season. McKendree entered two squads in the race with the second team consisting of sophomore
Eddie Lusk (Maryville, IL/Triad), as well as Neal, Allen, and Pickens to place sixth with a time of 43.17 seconds.
The 4x400 team of Allen and fellow freshman Andrew Gradewine,
Ryan Krause (Troy, IL/Triad), and
Joe Shannon (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) placed eighth after a total team time of 3:29.62.
On the track sophomore
Alex McCrite (Tamms, IL/Egyptian) landed a sixth place finish in the high jump after tabbing a height of 1.96-meters. Sophomore
Eric Imel (Chicago, IL/Schaumburg) finished seventh in the long jump with a distance of 6.70 meters.
Freshman
Monte Wolke (Sigel, IL/Cumberland) boosted an eighth place score after posting a height of 4.05-meters.
Sophomore
Ryan Pearce (Villa Grove, IL/Villa Grove) netted a third place finish in the shot put after launching a distance of 16.19-meters. With the throw Pearce currently ranks first in the GLVC and 18th nationally. Freshman
Chase Hagene (Nashville, IL/Nashville) joined him in eighth place with a distance of 14.71-meters. Hagene also brought in a third place finish in the discus after a toss of 44.18-meters.
McKendree is back in action Apr. 8 in St. Louis, MO when they compete at the Billiken Invitational hosted by Saint Louis University.
