(Joplin, MO., May 14)—The McKendree University track and field program sent a partial squad to compete at Missouri Southern State University Friday in Joplin, MO.
The Bearcats were paced by freshman
Quincy McSweeney (Eureka, IL/Eureka) who broke the Missouri Southern stadium record in the 800-meter with a provisional standard of 2:08.64 seconds to claim a first place finish. Her time hit a USA under 20 Junior Championship standard and currently ranks as the ninth fastest time in the country this season.
Sophomore
Melissa Calcara (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) placed second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.60 seconds.
In the field sophomore
Christina Hill (Okawville, IL/Okawville) finished fourth in the javelin after a throw of 33.19-meters. Hill also took home eighth place in the shot put after a toss of 11.23-meters. She was joined by freshman
Kirby Smith (Des Arc, AK/Des Arc) who placed ninth after a heave of 10.73-meters.
Freshman
Ciara Jones (O'Fallon, IL/O'Fallon) rounded out the women competitors for McKendree with a sixth place showing in the triple jump after traveling 11.21-meters.
On the men's side junior
Donovan Friscia (Jacksonville, FL/Bartram Trail) put in a time of 10.68 seconds in the 100-meter dash, which was good enough for second place. Freshman
Tyler Johnson (South Holland, IL/St. Rita) finished fifth in the 400-meter with a time of 56.32 seconds.
In the field sophomore
Ryan Pearce (Villa Grove, IL/Villa Grove) took home a pair of top five finishes after placing fourth in the shot put with a provisional throw of 16.69-meters and third in the discus after a toss of 50.86-meters. Pearce was joined by freshman
Chase Hagene (Nashville, IL/Nashville) who placed fifth with a mark of 46.73-meters.
