Women's Track & Field Wins Three Events in Indianapolis

RESULTS

(Indianapolis, Ind., Jan. 21) -
The McKendree University women's track and field team continued its 2018 indoor season at the Indianapolis Collegiate Challenge on Saturday evening. The Bearcats won four events inside the Athletics and Recreation Center on the campus of the University of Indianapolis.

Freshman Mya Watson-Blake took home first place in the 200m and tied for the top spot in the high jump with fellow Bearcat teammate Shelby Mourey. Watson-Blake also ran a collegiate personal best time of 8.06 in the 60m, placing her fifth in that event.

The Bearcats swept the podium in the 600m, with junior Quincy McSweeney winning in a personal best time of 1:33.22. Senior Jordyn Looman, who placed second behind McSweeney, also posted top ten placements in the 200m and the high jump. Freshman Kiara Chapman rounded out the top three in the 600m.

Senior Melissa Calcara finished sixth in the 60m hurdles, with a collegiate personal best time of 9.21 (#4 time in the GLVC this season), and she also placed tenth in the 400m event as well. Freshman Megan Molinari also achieved a personal best on Saturday, finishing fourth in the triple jump (9.25m).

Five other Bearcats earned top ten placements in Indianapolis; junior Mollie Bowman in the 200m, sophomore Shayna Phillips in the 400m and 1000m, junior Peyton Ali in the 3000m, and senior Christina Hill and sophomore Emily Harper, both in the shot put.

McKendree University track and field will take part in the Principia College Relays in Elsah, IL this Friday, January 26th
