Women’s Volleyball Starts Home Stand Against Bellarmine Tuesday

(LEBANON, Ill., Oct 22) – The women's volleyball team will take on Bellarmine University Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the Harry Statham Sports Center. The Bearcats are 14-10 overall on the season and 8-4 in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) action after defeating Quincy University 3-1 on Friday and Truman State University 3-2 on Saturday.

Leading the offensive efforts for McKendree is freshman middle blocker Hope Gramly (Prosper, TX/Prosper), junior outside hitter Kelly Voss (St. Rose, IL/Mater Dei), and junior middle blocker Megan Marks (Colgate, WI/Germantown). With 20 kills in the last match against Truman State, Gramly entered the 300 club with 304 recorded kills on the season. Voss isn't far behind with 287 kills recorded so far. Marks is next with 194 but leads the team in serving aces with 17 on the season. Senior setter Morgan Melchert (Mt. Vernon, IA/Mt. Vernon) has almost reached 1,000 assists on the season, she currently sits at 971.

Defensive leaders for the Bearcats are Voss, junior libero Alissa Zeitelhack (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley West), and junior outside hitter Elle Russell (Festus, MO/St. Pius X). Voss has 288 digs, Zeitelhack has 283, and Russell has 250. Melchert has a notable 240 digs on the season for the defense. At the net for McKendree's defense is Marks and Gramly. Megan Marks (Colgate, WI/Germantown) is just six blocks shy of 100 on the season, clocking in with 94 total blocks. Gramly leads the team in solo blocks with 17 on the season so far but falls just behind Marks in total blocks with 85.

McKendree will remain in Lebanon this weekend to celebrate Alumni Night and Senior Night. The Bearcats will take on the University of Indianapolis on Friday at 7 p.m. with Alumni celebrations and then face Lewis University on Saturday for Senior Night at 3 p.m.

ABOUT BELLARMINE:
The Knights of Bellarmine University are 17-8 overall on the season and 8-6 in GLVC competition earning them the eighth slot in conference rankings. Bellarmine is currently sitting on an eight-game win streak after defeating Drury University and Missouri S&T this past weekend. The Knights have a 10-1 record at home but a 2-6 record on the road.

Bellarmine's offense is led by outside hitter Jacquie Hornung, right side Bailey Roszman, and right side Katie Adams. Hornung has 254 kills on the season, Roszman has 249, and Adams has 227. Defensive efforts are led by libero Jordyn Kuchenbrod who has 609 digs on the season, Hornung who has 274, and defensive specialist Karleigh Wilson who has 210. At the nets for the Knights defense is middle hitter Abbie Oetting with 73 total blocks and Adams with 52.
