Women’s Volleyball Headed to St. Louis to take on Maryville University Tuesday

(LEBANON, Ill., Oct. 29) – The McKendree University women's volleyball team begins its final week of regular season Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) matches, starting with Maryville University on Tuesday Oct. 30 in St. Louis at 7 p.m.

The Bearcats are 14-13 overall on the season and 8-7 in the GLVC after suffering two losses at home this weekend to the University of Indianapolis, 3-1 on Friday and to Lewis University, 3-0 on Saturday. McKendree currently sits in eighth place in the GLVC standings.

Offensive leaders for the Bearcats are freshman middle blocker Hope Gramly (Prosper, TX/Prosper), junior outside hitter Kelly Voss (St. Rose, IL/Mater Dei), and junior middle blocker Megan Marks (Colgate, WI/Germantown). Gramly leads the pack with 325 recorded kills on the season, Voss is next with 316, and Marks follows with 217 kills recorded thus far. Senior setter Morgan Melchert (Mt. Vernon, IA/Mt. Vernon) has assisted the offense 1,083 times so far this season, continuously increasing her all-time career assist school record.

Defensive leaders for McKendree are Voss, junior libero Alissa Zeitelhack (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley West), sophomore outside hitter Elle Russell (Festus, MO/St. Pius X), and Melchert. Voss has recorded 330 digs this season, Zeitelhack has 319, Russell has 273, and Melchert has 262 digs. At the net for the Bearcats' defense is Marks and Gramly. Marks leads the team in total blocks with 103 on the season and Gramly leads the team in solo blocks with 20 on the season but falls short to Marks with only 94 total blocks.

The Bearcats will finish out the rest of their season on the road this upcoming weekend, taking on Bellarmine University in Louisville, Ky., on Friday at 7 p.m. then facing the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville, Ind., on Saturday at 3 p.m.

ABOUT MARYVILLE UNIVERSITY:
Maryville University is 6-22 overall on the season and 0-16 in GLVC action. Outside hitter Cassidy Arndt leads the attack for the Saints with 227 kills on the season, outside hitter Allison Lakin is next with 185 recorded kills and middle blocker Taylor Schellert follows with 129. Defensive efforts are led by libero A.J. Hellemann and Arndt. Hellemann has 427 recorded digs and Arndt has 273. At the net for the Saints' defense is Schellert with 48 total blocks and outside hitter Liz Eardly with 37.
