(Jacksonville, Ill., April 27) -- McKendree University women's track and field competed at the Lindenwood University Dual in St. Charles, MO and the Illinois College True Blue Twilight in Jacksonville, IL this week.
Sophomore TsiTsi Mahachi won the triple jump and long jump events in Jacksonville, and was joined on the podium in the long jump by teammates Kirby Smith and Rebecca McKee, with all three recording personal best marks. Smith won the javelin throw at both events, while freshman Mya Watson-Blake and junior Shelby Mourey took the two top spots in the high jump, with both athletes clearing the bar at 1.60m.
Watson-Blake also competed in the 100m at Illinois College, crossing the line in a personal best time of 12.81 and senior Mollie Bowman also earned a personal best in the 200m event, placing in second position. Junior Quincy McSweeney, sophomore Shayna Phillips and freshman Kaylee Fann swept the podium in the 800m, with McSweeney putting up an outdoor season best effort of 2:11.24.
At Lindenwood, Fann won the 800m in a time of 2:19.11, while sophomore Cydney Collins was second in the shot put with a collegiate best throw of 11.69m. The McKendree women finished in first place overall out of eleven teams competing. The Bearcats will compete at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Outdoor Championships in Romeoville, IL next weekend.
