(Louisville, Kent., April 6) -- The McKendree University track and field program competed at the Bellarmine Invitational on Friday in Louisville, Kentucky.
Sophomore TsiTsi Mahachi earned a Division II provisional qualifying mark of 11.95m in the triple jump, placing second, and she also finished second in the 400m with a time of 56.37. Joining her in the 400m top five was junior Quincy McSweeney and senior Jordyn Looman, who won the long jump with a mark of 5.41m and finished fifth in the high jump. Freshman Mya-Watson Blake placed ahead of Looman in the high jump, finishing in second.
Junior Kirby Smith earned a Division II provisional qualifying mark of 43.61 in the javelin throw, placing second overall in the event and setting a new school record in the process. Senior Melissa Calcara, coming off a successful showing last weekend at the Bearcat Classic, was third in the 100m hurdles and second in the 400m hurdles. Junior Peyton Ali finished in second place at the 5000m distance, recording a time of 19:19.38.
On the men's side, McKendree placed three in the top eight of the 800m, with junior Andrew Gardewine finishing in fourth, Trevor White in fifth and Ryan Krause in eighth. Junior Tyree Allen was victorious in the 400m, crossing the line in a time of 48.86. Sophomore Darren Arzu placed fourth in the 110m hurdles, while junior Tyler Johnson was fifth in the 400m hurdles.
