(CHAMPAIGN, Ill., Jan. 26) – The McKendree University men's and women's track and field teams took part in the 2020 Illini Invitational track and field meet on Saturday at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, Ill.

McKendree placed first in both the men's and women's triple jump competition. Senior Tsitsi Mahachi (Harare, Zimbabwe/Chisipite Senior School) claimed the title for the women's team with an 11.84m jump, which surpasses the NCAA provisional marker for the triple jump by .14m. Sophomore Torrey Deal (Madison, IL/Granite City) earned first place for the men's team with his best jump of 14.70m, just .03m shy of his career best.

Freshman Laila Graham (Fairview Heights, IL/Belleville East) was the only other Bearcat to earn a top three finish in the Invitational with a third place mark in the women's high jump. In just her second meet with McKendree, Graham jumped 1.65m, just .02 shy of her jump at the Lewis Invite earlier this month that landed her the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Field Athlete of the Week on Jan. 16.
