(CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind., Feb. 15) – The McKendree University swimming and diving team closed out an impressive Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Championships on Saturday night at the Crawfordsville Aquatic Center.
The men finished their highest as a program, second with 1414.5 points, 38.5 points behind the winner, Indianapolis. The women placed fifth with 826 points.
The finals kicked off with the 1650 freestyle. Freshman
Fabio Dalu (Cagliari, Italy/Liceo L.B. Alberti Cagliari) continued his impressive showing, shattering the conference record with a time of 15:02.17, topping his already top time in Division-II. Junior
Throstur Bjarnason (Reykjanesbær, Iceland/Fjölbrautaskóli Suðurnesja) placed fifth with a time of 15:35.73. Sophomore
Hallie Dixon (Jeffersonville, IN/Jeffersonville High School) took 12
th place, posting a time of 17:30.01.
In the 100 freestyle, sophomore
Abigail Rumpp (Knoxville, TN/L&N STEM Academy) took sixth place with a time of 51.96. Sophomore
Haley Rey (Columbia, IL/Columbia High School) competed in the B final, taking fifth with a 52.55.
For the men, sophomore Gregg Lichinksy showed his power, breaking yet another GLVC record, winning gold with a 42.94. Junior
Alexander Skinner (Namibia, Africa/Windhoek Afrikaans Private School) took silver with a time of 43.55. Senior
Luca Simonetti (Sassari, Italy/Liceo Scientifico Gulielmo Marconi Sassari) also competed in the A finals, placing seventh with a 45.05. Senior
Matija Pucarevic (Belgrade, Serbia/Sixth Belgrade Grammar School) won the B final with a time of 44.53.

Sydney Rey (Columbia, IL/Columbia High School) won the B final of the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:01.92. junior
Iris Hilmarsdottir (Reykjanesbær, Iceland/Fjölbrautaskóli Suðurnesja) took eighth in the B final with a 2:09.00 Sophomore
Claire Brouillet (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt West High School) won the C final with a time of 2:05.43. Freshman

In the 200 breaststroke, freshman
John Heaphy (Eagle River, AK/Eagle River High School) took bronze with a time of 2:00.22. Freshman
Barrett Troup (Little Rock, AR/Homeschool) and senior
Matthew Meals (McKinney, TX/McKinney Boyd High School) competed in the B final, placing third and fifth, with times of 2:03.50 and 2:04.71. Freshman
Grace Credit (La Grange Highlands, IL/Lyons Township High School) took sixth in the B final with a time of 2:24.86.
The women's 400 freestyle relay team of senior

Meredith Geyer (Germantown, TN/Germantown High School) took fourth place with a time of 3:26.54.
The men's team of Pucarevic, Simonetti, Lichinsky, and Skinner set a new conference record, breaking their own, with a time of 2:54.11.
