LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University's women's volleyball team will wrap up the season with their final two home games against Great Lakes Valley Conference opponents Lewis University and the University of Illinois-Springfield. The Bearcats will play Lewis on Friday, Nov. 12 and Illinois-Springfield on Saturday, Nov. 13. The Bearcats will honor their lone senior McKenna Ross (Anthem, Ariz./Boulder Creek) before the game on Saturday.
The Bearcats come into this weekend after falling to Maryville University last Friday, Quincy last Saturday, and the University of Indianapolis this past Tuesday.
Over the past three matches the Bearcats had three players record a double-double against Indianapolis. Sophomore Brianna Binder (Littleton, Colo./Dakota Ridge) recorded 17 kills and 16 digs, junior Maddie Misner (Makanda, Ill./Carbondale) recorded 15 kills and a career-high 23 digs, and freshman Catie Shane (Evansville, Ind./Francis J. Reitz) recorded 10 digs and a career-high 40 assists.
On the season the Bearcats are 8-18 and 4-11 in GLVC play. The Bearcats offense is led by Binder as she ranks 10th in the GLVC with 2.90 kills per set. Preusser ranks ninth in the GLVC in serve aces with 0.32 aces per set.
LEWIS:
The Bearcats will host the 20th ranked Flyers of Lewis University on Friday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Melvin Price Convocation Center. The Flyers have already clinched the number 1 seed for the GLVC Tournament as they are 21-6 and 15-1 in GLVC play. The Flyers offense is led by fifth-year senior Ava Venema and junior Juliana Van Loo. Venema averages 3.27 kills per set and has tallied 364.5 points while Van Loo averages 3.20 kills per set and has tallied 288.5 points.
The all-time matchup favors the Flyers as they are 12-2 against the Bearcats and they have won six in a row.
ILLINOIS-SPRINGFIELD:
The Bearcats will host the Prairie Stars of Illinois-Springfield on Saturday, Nov. 13. Before the game the Bearcats will honor the aforementioned McKenna Ross as she is the lone graduating senior on the roster. The Prairie Stars come into the match with a 12-15 record and are 8-8 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars offense is led by freshman Angela Denney and junior Ryleigh Warfel. Denney averages 2.59 kills per set and has amassed 263 points while Warfel averages 2.56 kills per set and has tallied 241 points on the season.
The all-time matchup favors the Bearcats as they are 13-10 against the Prairie Stars and the Prairie Stars won the last time these two teams met.
The Bearcats host the Flyers at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12 before hosting the Prairie Stars at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13.
