LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University's women's volleyball team prepares for its final weekend road trip on Nov. 5 and 6 with Great Lakes Valley Conference matchups against Maryville and Quincy. The Bearcats will open the weekend across the river at Maryville in Town & Country, Mo. before heading north on Saturday to play Quincy.
Going into this weekend, the Bearcats enter play after hard fought five set wins over Missouri S&T and William Jewell on Oct. 29 and 30. With the win over the Miners, the Bearcats extended their winning streak to eight consecutive matches over the Miners and in the win against the Cardinals the Bearcats won their fifth consecutive match at home against the Cardinals.
Last weekend the Bearcats had four players record double-doubles in both matches as well as having two players reach career milestones in Saturday's match against William Jewell. Sophomore Brianna Binder (Littleton, Colo./Dakota Ridge), sophomore Colleen Preusser (St. Charles, Mo./Lutheran), junior Maddie Misner (Makanda, Ill./Carbondale), and junior Macy Tongate (Towanda, Ill./Normal University) had double-doubles in both matches. Tongate recorded her 1,000th career assist on Saturday and Skyler Sieber (Naples, Fla./Montevallo) recorded her 1,000th career dig on Saturday.
On the season, McKendree is 8-15 and 4-8 in GLVC play while evening up their home record to 3-3. Binder leads the offense with 2.79 kills per set followed by Preusser with 2.50 kills per set and Tongate averages 9.05 assists per set.
MARYVILLE:
The Saints of Maryville will host the Bearcats this Friday, Nov. 5. The Saints enter the match with a 10-15 record and 2-11 GLVC record and have lost their last two matches. The Saints offense is led by senior Mikaela Kues and sophomore Taylor Keck. Kues has 185 points and averages 2.03 kills per set while Keck has 172.5 points and averages 2.37 kills per set.
The all-time series matchup favors the Bearcats as they are 14-1 against the Saints and have won 12 in a row against the Saints.
QUINCY:
The Hawks of Quincy host the Bearcats second matchup this weekend on Saturday, Nov. 6. The Hawks enter the match with a 13-12 record and 7-7 GLVC record and lost their last matchup. The Hawks offense is led by redshirt junior Mattison Norris and junior Emily Rehagen. Norris has 250.5 points and averages 2.61 kills per set while Rehagen has 332.5 points while averaging 3.49 kills per set.
The all-time series matchup favors the Bearcats as they are 10-2 against the Hawks and have won nine in a row.
The Bearcats play Maryville at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov.5 before heading to Quincy on Saturday, Nov. 6 for a 3 p.m. start.
