LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University men's soccer sets off for the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament, making a trip to the third-seeded Maryville Saints. The Bearcats locked up their position in the GLVC after beating UMSL on Halloween, 3-0, at Don Dallas Soccer Field. The quarterfinal match will take place at 1 P.M. at the Maryville Soccer Field in St. Louis, Missouri.
The Bearcats enter the weekend quarterfinal contest with the six seed rank after finishing with a GLVC record of 8-5-1 and an overall mark of 8-5-3. McKendree snapped a three-game skid to end the season with its 3-0 victory over Missouri-St. Louis and previously owned a six-match win streak before the losing streak. During the winning streak, the Bearcats were tied atop the GLVC with UIndy but stumbled for a short time, losing to upcoming opponent Maryville on 10/24 at Leemon Field.
QUARTERFINAL MATCHUP:
McKendree (No. 6 seed) travels to Maryville (No. 3 seed) for the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament, playing at 1 P.M. on Sunday, November 7. The last time these two programs met was on October 24 in Lebanon at Leemon Field where the Saints won a 1-0, tightly contested matchup.
All-time, the Bearcats are 5-9 versus Maryville and have dropped the last four against the Saints.
