COLUMBIA, Mo. – The McKendree University men's swimming & diving team continued competition here Thursday on the second day of the Mizzou Invitational held at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.
On the second day of action, the No. 2 ranked Bearcat men recorded on NCAA 'A' qualifying time, an NCAA Provisional time in the 800 freestyle relay and posted nine season best times in the finals.
After two days of the meet hosted by the University of Missouri, McKendree sits in third place out of four teams with 516 points. McKendree is the lone Division II team competing in the event.
In the opening event of Thursday's finals was the 100 butterfly as sophomore
Jackson Lustig (Milwaukee, Wis./Piux XI) posted an NCAA 'A' qualifying time and a season-best mark of 46.74 to finish in third place overall in the 'A' Final of the event. In addition to Lustig, fifth-year senior
Gregg Lichinsky (West Des Moines, Iowa/West Des Moines Valley) was fifth with a season-best and NCAA 'B' time time of 47.1. In the 'B' Final, sophomore
Nick Khatkovyy (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) and freshman
Mario Perez Torrado (Madrid, Spain/Gredos San Diego) were 12th and 13th respectively with season best times of 50.10 and 50.29.
The next event was the 200 medley relay and McKendree's 'B' Team recorded a season-best time of 1:29.34 to finish in sixth place, while the 'C' Team was eighth with a time of 1:31.00. The members of the 'B' Relay team were sophomore
Abram Hagedorn (Oregon, Ohio/Toledo School of Arts), freshman
Noah Tague (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson), Lustig and Perez Torrado, while the 'C' Team featured junior

In the 400 IM, freshman
Preston Troyer (Dayton, Ohio/Xenia Christian) was the top finisher as he was sixth with a time of 4:03.03, while freshman
Caden Brooks (Princeton, Ill./Princeton) was eighth with a time of 4:06.05. Freshman
Ty Miller (Arlington, Texas/Arlington) was the top finisher in the 'B' Final with a time of 4:06.51.
The next event was the 200 freestyle as Souza finished second with a season best and NCAA 'B' time of 1:37.38, while Yavari was seventh with a season-best and NCAA 'B' time of 1:38.58.
Junior
Filipe Pinheiro (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/Colegio Ao Cubo) recorded a season-best time of 54 seconds in the 100 breaststroke to finish in seventh place in the 'A' Final.
Grimes posted a seventh place finish in the 100 backstroke as he recorded a time of 49.31 in the 'A' Final. In the 'B' Final of the event, the Bearcats finished ninth, 11th, 12th and 14th as Hagedorn was ninth with a time of 49.49, while sophomore
Gavin Wagner (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) was 11th with a time of 51.32. Freshman
Joey Ovanic (Utica, Ill./Ottawa) was 12th with a time of 52.17 and freshman
Kadence Griffin (Prosper, Texas/Prosper) was 14th with a time of 52.58.
The final event of the night was the 800 freestyle relay and McKendree's 'A' Team finished in second place with a season-best and NCAA Provisional time of 6:33.88. The members of the second place relay team were Yavari, sophomore
Leo Gandaria-Hernandez (Milwaukee, Wis./Greenfield), Lichinsky and Souza.
In addition to finishing second, the Bearcats' 'B' relay team was fifth with a time of 6:47.80. The members of the 'B' relay team were Troyer, junior

Matthew Stooke (O'Fallon, Ill./First Baptist Academy) and Lustig.
