ELKHART, Ind. - Through two days of the 2022 Great Lakes Valley Conference Swimming & Diving Championships, McKendree University continues to sit in fourth place out of nine teams as the 18th-ranked Bearcats have earned a total of 498 points at the Elkhart Health and Aquatics Center.
During Thursday's second day of the four-day meet, the Bearcats set a new school record in the 400 medley relay, recorded two NCAA 'B'-cut times and two home fourth and fifth overall in the 3-meter diving competition.
While McKendree sits fourth with 498 points, No. 3 ranked Drury continues to lead the way with 951.50 points, while No. 2 ranked Indianapolis is second with 926 points and eighth-ranked Lindenwood remains third with 789.50 points.
Perhaps the highlight of the day for the Bearcats on the second day of the championship meet came in the 400 Medley Relay as the Bearcats placed fifth overall in the event with a school record time of 3:48.85. The 400 medley relay marked the third time in this year's championship meet that the Bearcats set a new school record in a relay event as on Wednesday, McKendree set new school records in both the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay.
In addition to its performance in the 400 medley relay, the Bearcats had a strong showing in 3-meter diving as senior
Lilia de Oliveira Pelaez (Ile Perrot, Quebec/New Mexico State) placed fourth overall with a score of 404.90, while sophomore
Regan Gubera (Jamestown, Ind./Western Boone) was fifth with a score of 404.30. In the preliminary round, de Oliveria Pelaez was third in qualifying with a score of 400.00, while Gubera was fifth with a score of 388.00.

Hallie Dixon (Jeffersonville, Ind./Jeffersonville) finished seventh in the 400 IM with an NCAA 'B'-cut time of 4:25.59, while Voroshazy and freshman
Aurora Abbruscato (Reggio Emilia, Italy/I.I.S. Blaise Pascal) went first and third in the B-Final of the 100 butterfly as they recorded times of 56.23 and 56.42 respectively.
The final event that McKendree competed in was the 200 freestyle on Thursday as graduate student
Molly Smalley (Windhoek, Namibia/Plymouth College) and sophomore
Alexis Kachkin (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) was sixth and eighth in the B-Final of the 200 freestyle with times of 1:54.04 and 1:55.41 respectively.
All first and second-place finishers earn first and second-team All-GLVC honors.
Meanwhile, in Thursday's preliminaries, Dixon was fourth in qualifying in the 400 IM with an NCAA 'B'-cut time of 4:26.01, while Voroshazy was ninth in the 100 butterfly qualifying.
The third day of the four-day GLVC Championships begins with preliminaries of the 500 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke and 200 butterfly beginning at 10 a.m. ET. The men's 3-meter diving prelims are set to begin at 12:30 p.m. ET with finals taking place shortly after the conclusion of the prelims. On Friday night, the league to conduct championship finals in the 500 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 800 freestyle relay.
