GREENSBORO, N.C. – The McKendree University women's swimming and diving team enters Saturday's final day of the 2022 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving National Championships sitting in 20th place in the team standings with 32 points at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
With its 32 points scored, McKendree has scored the most points in school history at the NCAA Championships. In Wednesday's first day of competition, the Bearcats scored 18 points and those 18 points were the most points the Bearcats had ever scored at any NCAA meet in school history.
In Friday's third day of action in the pool in Greensboro, the Bearcats did not qualify anyone into the finals as the Bearcats lone participant on Friday was senior
Hallie Dixon (Jeffersonville, Ind./Jeffersonville), who swam in the preliminaries of the 500 freestyle as she recorded a time of 5:02.02 to finish in 27th place and miss qualifying for the finals by nearly three seconds.
Through three days of competition in the National Championships, Queens continues to sit atop the team scoring as the Royals have scored 405.5 points, while the University of Indianapolis is second with 312 points and Nova Southeastern sits third with 298.5 points.
In Saturday's final day of the four-day championship meet, the Bearcats will compete in three events as freshman
Karley Sonnenberg (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) will attempt to qualify for the finals of the 100 freestyle in Saturday morning's preliminaries, while sophomore
Regan Gubera (Jamestown, Ind./Western Boone) will look to earn All-American honors in 1-meter diving after earning them in 3-meter diving on Thursday as she compete in Saturday afternoon's diving preliminaries and McKendree's 400 freestyle relay team will compete in Saturday night's finals.
