ADDISON, Ill. – The McKendree University men's bowling team concluded its 2021-22 season here Friday after 2-1 in elimination round bracket play at the Intercollegiate Team Championships being held at the Stardust Bowl.
McKendree, who finished 12th in Thursday's 24 Baker qualifying games, opened bracket play with a 1-1 record on Thursday evening to fall into the elimination round where they needed to five games on Friday to advance to Saturday's championship final.
In Friday's action, the 12th-seeded Bearcats opened with a 4-2 win over ninth-seeded Mount Mercy in the fourth round.
The win over Mount Mercy advanced the Bearcats into a fifth-round match with top-seeded SCAD Savannah. The Bearcats would pick up a 4-1 win in the best-of-7 Baker game set to move on to the sixth round.
In the sixth round, which was one round short of the Red Bracket final, the Bearcats saw their season end with a 4-2 loss to eighth-seeded Wisconsin-Whitewater.
Wisconsin-Whitewater would follow up their win over McKendree by defeating previously undefeated Indiana Tech twice to claim the Red Bracket final and advance to Saturday's championship final against defending champion Wichita State, who claimed the Blue Bracket final with a 4-2 win over William Penn.
At the event, the Bearcats finished with a 3-2 overall record.
