LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University women's volleyball hits the road this week in a two-game conference outing against Truman State University and Great Lakes Valley Conference newcomer Upper Iowa University. McKendree faces Truman State on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 6:00 p.m. followed by the match at Upper Iowa on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 3:00 p.m.
The Bearcats are 10-11 overall on the season heading into the weekend and will look to snap their two-game skid against the Bulldogs and Peacocks. In conference standings, McKendree has held the No.2 spot in digs for most of the season and holds it still at an average of 18.39 digs per set. McKendree is also sixth in assists, headed by junior setter Amber Williams who ranks fifth individually at 10.36 assists per set. Senior Lauren McCurley leads the blocking efforts for McKendree, ranking sixth and tallying 1.00 blocks per set.
Truman State sports a 12-10 overall record as they prepare for matchups with McKendree and No.3 Missouri-St. Louis. The last time the Bearcats and Bulldogs met, Truman State slipped away with a close 3-2 win over McKendree. In GLVC standings, the Bulldogs rank fourth in blocks (2.11 per set) and second in service aces (2.01 per set). Freshman Dani Kurth ranks ninth in blocks for the conference (0.91 per set) while sophomore Jessica Proszenyak averages 0.63 aces per set (45 total) to lead the GLVC.
Upper Iowa sits at 9-12 overall for the season and will face Missouri-St. Louis prior to their match with McKendree. The game will mark the fourth all-time meeting between the Peacocks and Bearcats but the first-ever conference matchup for both women's volleyball teams. Upper Iowa ranks in the middle of the pack for many statistical categories in the GLVC, their highest ranking at fifth in service aces (1.79 per set). Topping the efforts for Upper Iowa in aces is senior Zoe Semelroth who is fifth overall at 0.45 aces per set. Senior Nicole Pozorski also holds a top-ten spot in assists for the Peacocks at sixth (9.65 per set).
