Men's Bowling Places 2nd at Lions Classic

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - McKendree University men's bowling team traveled to the St. Charles Lanes this past weekend, October 28-29 to compete in the Lions Classic for their third tournament.

In the two-day event, the Bearcats placed second out of six teams. Day one of the tournament started at 8:45 a.m. where they bowled three traditional games following up with 16 baker games. On day two of the tournament, they bowled four more baker games to determine seeding, where McKendree was placed first in bracket play. McKendree won their first match against Drury 2.5-.5 which gave the Bearcats a bye for round three. In round four, the Bearcats beat Drury 2-0 advancing them to the finals. In the finals the Beacats fell to Lindenwood 3-2, placing second overall in the tournament.

In individual standings, the Bearcats had three bowlers placed in the top six. Senior Kolby Bennett placed first bowling an average of 248.3 pins per game. Placing fourth for the Bearcats was senior Nicholas Blagojevic averaging 233.7 pins a game. In sixth place was junior Brendan Carney averaging 229.3.

The Bearcats continue their season November 4-5 as they compete at the Bowlero Southern Collegiate Classic in Marietta, Georgia.
