INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - McKendree University men's bowling competed in the Columbia 300 Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis, Ind. this past weekend. The two-day event featured 78 teams vying for a top eight spot in the standings and a chance at the title.
McKendree played six team games, totaling 6,211 pins. After the six games, McKendree sat in fifth place overall. In addition to the six team games, the Bearcats played 15 baker games to tally an overall pinfall of 9,252 and qualify for the bracket rounds at seventh place.
After qualifying, McKendree was defeated 209-177 and 180-176 by No.2-seeded Wichita State in the primary round of bracket play to finish 5th-8th overall in the tournament. Wichita State advanced to face Tennessee Southern in the championship round.
In individual standings, senior Jorge Rodriguez finished third overall for the Bearcats, averaging 233 pins per game and earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
Up next, McKendree will compete at the USBC Sectionals on March 10-12.
