O'FALLON, Ill. - McKendree University women's tennis battled the No.31-ranked Drury University this past weekend at the St. Clair Tennis Club, falling by a score of 2-5. The Bearcats move to 3-1 overall with their first loss of the season as they prepare for another home match next week.  

The Panthers swept the doubles matches, taking the No.1 match against senior Viola Cipriana and junior Camilla Fonscea 0-6. In a close No.2 match, McKendree junior Rhyan Cook and senior Mariana Caicedo Mora fell 7-6 while fifth-year senior Manuela Barriga and junior Maria Vitoria Salomoa dropped the No.3 match 2-6. 

Two Bearcats won their singles matches including Cook in the No.4 match against Drury's Alma Abazi with scores of 7-5, 6-2. Caicedo Mora, in the No. 6 match, fell in the first set 0-6, but won the next two 7-6, 10-2 to win against Drury's Maria Fernanda De La Torre.  

McKendree will be back on the court next Tuesday, March 24 as they host Henderson State University at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, Mo., beginning at 2 p.m.
