Box Score 3 MARHSALL, Mo. - McKendree University women's tennis swept its weekend road trip, posting wins over William Jewell College (7-0), Rockhurst University (5-2), and Missouri Valley College (7-0). The Bearcats improve to 6-2 overall for the 2023 season.
In doubles, McKendree duo senior Viola Cipriani and Camilla Fonseca went 2-1 on the weekend with a 6-2 win over William Jewell's Julia Santos and Maggie Shocklee as well as a 6-1 win against Missouri Valley College's Milene Marciniuk and Anais Gerard. The Bearcats' lone doubles loss for the three matches came against Rockhurst as Cipriani and Fonseca fell in a close 7-5 match to Rockhurst's Sofia Valdespino and Marina Magai.
McKendree's No.2 doubles team of junior Rhyan Cook and senior Mariana Caicedo Mora posted three wins in doubles starting with a 6-3 win against William Jewell's Gwyn Gifford and Julie Boerschig. To cap their sweep, Cook and Caicedo Mora recorded won 6-1 against Rockhurst's Andrea Dabbah and Kaleigh Isgett and 6-2 over Missouri Valley's Claudia Casas and Queralt Carbo.
In No.3 doubles, fifth-year senior Manuela Barriga and junior Maria Salomao sealed a 6-3 victory against William Jewell's Maisie Markowitz and Chloe Sabin. Additioanlly, the McKendree pair defeated Rockhurst's Dani Lentisco and Dina Dudic 6-4 as well as Missouri Valley's Nikoleta Aleksic and Tristan Liebenberg 6-1.
In singles matches, Cipriani, Fonseca, and Salomao went 3-0 in their respective matches for the weekend while Cook and Barriga each posted a 2-1 record. Cipriani posted her best career win in the No.2 singles match with an upset against Rockhurst's Marina Magai who came into the match with an 8.5 UTR (Universal Tennis Rating). Caicedo Mora grabbed two wins against William Jewell and Rockhurst, and junior Emily Kettering sealed the singles wins at the No.6 spot against Missouri Valley.

Coming up, the Bearcats will host Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville in an exhibition match on Wednesday, March 29 at 2 p.m. before hosting Maryville at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, Mo., on Friday, March 31 at 2 p.m.
