Men's Bowling Places 19th at Midwest Collegiate Championship

WAUWATOSA, Wis. - McKendree men's bowling team kicked off their 2024-25 season this weekend at the Midwest Collegiate Championship with a 19th-place finish out of 58 teams.

The Bearcats finished 19th in the tournament as they recorded a total of 8,207 to finish 29 pins behind Saint Xavier University and 12 pins in front of Wartburg College. Savannah College of Art and Design was the top-finishing team in the tournament with 8,846 pins.

After Saturday's opening day of action, McKendree was in 14th place with 5,064 pins in five games. On the second day of the tournament, the Bearcats played in four sets of baker matches where they ended with 744, 894, 751, and 753.

During individual rounds, junior Darren Zombro placed 35th, as he recorded a total of 1,067 pins. Following behind in 38th place was sophomore Nathan Bassford with a total of 1,059 pins.

The Bearcats are back in action next weekend, as they travel to Indianapolis, Ind., to compete in the Columbia 300 Western Shootout.
