Women's Volleyball Gears Up for Oklahoma Baptist Invitational

LEBANON, Ill. - McKendree University women's volleyball prepares for the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational in Shawnee, Oklahoma this coming weekend, Sept. 13-14. The Bearcats will look to add to the win column for the 2024 season with four games over two days. 

On Friday morning, McKendree faces Southwestern Oklahoma State University at 9 a.m. This will be the Bearcats first match meeting since 2016, with the Bearcats winning in three sets. The Bulldogs are 1-2 to start the 2024 season, defeating Davenport (1-3). In the afternoon, McKendree takes on Cameron University at 4:30 p.m. for the first time in women's volleyball history. The Aggies have faced a challenging start to the season with a 0-4 record coming into the tournament.

Saturday brings another doubleheader for the Bearcats, starting with a 10 a.m. match against the University of Texas at Tyler who began the 2024 season with an 0-3 record. This will be the first match up between the Bearcats and Patriots in women's volleyball history.

In the afternoon on Saturday, the Bearcats face Oklahoma Baptist University at 3 p.m. for the last game of the tournament. The last match up between the Bearcats and Bisons occurred in 2015 with McKendree taking the win in five sets. The Bisons are 2-2 to begin the 2024 season, defeating Spring Hill (0-4) and Wheeling (1-3).

So far this season, graduate student right-side Colleen Preusser leads the team in both kills (40) and digs (50). Senior setter Amber Williams has amassed 112 assists for the first four games. Freshman middle blocker Avery Guisinger heads the blocking efforts for McKendree with 11.0.
