PLAINVILLE, Ill. - McKendree University women's tennis fell 5-0 to Grand Valley State University to open up their spring season. 

The Bearcats secured one doubles win in the match as senior Sofija Djunisijevic and junior Iva Poleksic posted a 6-3 win in the No.1 match against Grand Valley State University's Valentina Mozas and Neus Ramos Moreno. 

As the competition turned to singles play, Poleksic got the Bearcats off to a good start by taking the first set 6-4, but would then fall 4-6, 0(3)-1(10). Junior Lena Greefs drops her first set 4-6, comes back in the second set to win 7(7)-6(5), but ends up falling 0(8)-1(10) in the third set. Freshman Ivana Milkova and freshman Keira Greefs fell in straight sets as the Lakers clinched the match.

The Bearcats are back in action this Sunday February 2^nd against Washburn University at St. Clair Tennis Club in O'Fallon Illinois. Match time is set for 9am. This match will be alumni day as well.
