ALLENDALE, Mich. – The McKendree Women's Swim and Dive team took fourth at the Grand Valley State University (GVSU) Invite this weekend.
McKendree started out solid in the first event with Tumi Macdonell, Helena Kurtz, Beatriz Souza and Jocelyn Zgola grabbed fifth in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:38.43. Following that event, Luiza Dias earned a fifth-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, as she finished with 5:12.51.
Kurtz had the highest finish for the team in the 100-yard butterfly, coming in second place securing a time of 57.63. Zgola also finished fourth individually in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:56.72. Macdonell earned a ninth place finish out of 28 competitors in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.42.
Souza, Chiara Fuerst, and Rylee Sitton competed in the 200-yard breaststroke, completing the event with times of 2:24.07, 2:30.78 and 2:31.23 finishing fifth, 13th and 14th, respectively.
Elena Argabright also earned a top 10 finish in the 500-yard freestyle with 5:23.22 securing a ninth-place finish.
Next, McKendree will be back home for a head-to-head meeting with Saint Louis University on October 24th and 25th at the McKendree Metro Rec Plex.
