ROLLA, Mo. - McKendree University women's track and field opened up their 2025 outdoor campaign at the Miner Invitational hosted by the University of Missouri S&T.
The 100m saw freshman Helena Rohde and Rajae Saunders run personal bests with times of 13.18 and 13.23 to lead the way for the Bearcats.
Freshman Shinelle Jhagroo placed 10th in the 200m running a career best 25.04 with 2.9mph wind. Sophomore Divine Favor Ozomma also ran a personal best, crossing the line in 25.65. These times currently rank ninth and 11th in the GLVC.
In the 400m, freshman Mickayla Sutherland ran a blazing personal best of 56.01, which is currently first in the GLVC standings. She was followed by junior Adonya Taylor who took sixth place in 59.20, who ranks fifth in the GLVC.
Freshman Kennise Major took ninth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.64. Major also ran the 400m hurdles in a time of 1:13.49, as well as sophomore Sara Belloso who took seventh in 1:06.55.
The 4 x 100m relay unit of Cotton, sophomore Iyanna Dear, Rhode, and Ozomma placed sixth in 49.24.
On the field, sophomore Paula Niubo placed eighth with a mark of 1.45m (4'9").
The long jump saw Jhagroo take second place with a leap of 5.78m.
Freshman Sofia Boscarolo took 10th in the shotput and eight in the discus with throws of 10.69m (35'1") and 47.09m (121'8"). A career best in the discus.
The Bearcats return to action next Saturday at Indiana State University.
