LEBANON, Ill. – The bass fishing program and Head Coach Jon Rinderer have announced that Owen Sheppard has signed with the McKendree Bass Fishing team.
Shappard and his family reside in Nova, Ohio, where he attends Mapleton High School in Ashland, Ohio. While attending Mapleton, he played for the school's basketball team and fished for the Black Swamp Bass Club out of Gibsonburg, Ohio.
His fishing accomplishments include:
• SAF State Championship (Mosquito Creek Lake) — 8th Place
• Ohio Bass Nation State Championship (East Fork Lake) — 8th Place
• Ohio Bass Federation State Championship — 5th Place (Back-to-Back Finishes, 2024 & 2025)
• 2024 Ohio Bass Nation Trail Event #1 (Indian Lake) — 2nd Place
• 2023 Student Fishing League Portage Lakes – 3rd place
His primary fisheries are: Pleasant Hill Lake, Lake Erie, Mosquito Creek Lake, and Alum Creek Lake.
"We are excited to announce that Owen Sheppard has officially signed with our Bearcat bass fishing team," said Rinderer. "When on the water, he loves flip and power fish grass. Owen's great skill set combined with his work ethic, positive attitude, and passion for the sport make him a fantastic fit for our program! "We look forward to welcoming him and his family to McKendree this fall."
Sheppard plans on majoring in Business Administration once he arrives on campus.
