EVANSVILLE, Ind. – McKendree Women's Swim and Dive claims more medals in the 500-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle relay on the fourth day Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Championships at the Deaconess Aquatic Center Thursday night.  

Luiza Dias got the Bearcats off on the right foot, getting a silver medal in the 500-yard freestyle, swimming a 4:56.97. Jocelyn Zgola also got into the top five with a fourth place finish with a time of 5:01.20. 

In the 100-yard breaststroke Beatriz Souza broke her own school record which was previously set at 1:02.69 earlier this season. She set the new record at 1:02.06, which would also get her a fourth-place finish in the event.  

The 200-yard butterfly saw Atzi Gomez get an eighth-place finish, stopping the time at 2:11.36. 

The Bearcats ended the day with a bronze medal in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a 1:33.90 from the group of Sarah Gormley, Tumi Macdonell, Helena Kurtz and Zgola.  

Next, the team will be competing in the 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, and 200-yard breaststroke on the final day of the GLVC Championships.
