(ST. LOUIS, Mo., October 27)- A second half goal by senior forward
Max Stainmez (Holland, Ontario, Canada, Denison) was the difference for the McKendree University men's soccer team on Wednesday afternoon in a 1-0 win at Harris-Stowe State University in the Bearcats' regular season finale.
McKendree, 12-3-3 overall (5-1-1 American Midwest Conference), earned the No. 2 seed for the AMC tournament and get a bye to the tournament semifinals on Wednesday, November 10th.
The Bearcats fought against a stingy Harris-Stowe defense, as well as windy conditions, in the contest and didn't get on the scoreboard until the 68th minute. Freshman forward
Dan Bogard (Portsmouth, England, Porchester Community) found Stainmez and he delivered the game-winning goal past Hornet goalkeeper Colby Poindexter to take a 1-0 lead. The goal proved to be the difference and McKendree prevailed to finish as regular season runner-up in the AMC.
Junior goalkeeper
Joe Sagar (Oldham, England, Hulme) played all 90 minutes and earned his fifth shutout of the season, while improving to 7-0-1 overall.
