(KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 25)- The No. 7 McKendree University women's soccer team improved to 9-0 on Saturday night after a 3-0 win at Avila University.

McKendree will host Missouri Valley College on Monday, September 25th at 6 p.m.

The Bearcats scored in the 3rd minute of the contest when junior forward Sulyn Keomanivane (Granite City, Ill., Granite City) found senior midfielder Kyla Nighohossian (Granite City, Ill., Granite City) to take the 1-0 lead. Keomanivane found senior midfielder Ashley Varns (Chatham, Ill., Glenwood) with a pass in the 43rd minute and McKendree took a 2-0 lead into the halftime. The Bearcats struck again in the 60th minute on an unassisted goal by junior midfielder Chrissy Ghirardi (O'Fallon, Mo., Ft. Zumwalt South) to earn their ninth win of the season.

Senior goalkeeper Liz Yanko (St. Louis, Mo., Rosati-Kain) improved to 9-0 in the win and earned her third shutout of the season. The win was Yanko's 56th career victory and places her one behind tying Natalie Jameson for the McKendree career record.
