KEOMANIVANE SETS SCHOOL RECORD FOR CAREER GOALS SCORED, McKENDREE WINS EIGHTH STRAIGHT WITH 5-2 WIN OVER HANNIBAL-LaGRANGE

Box Score

(LEBANON, Ill., October 27)- Senior midifielder Sulyn Keomanivane (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) scored her 49th career goal in her final game at Leemon Field on Thursday to become the all-time leader in goals scored at McKendree University in a 5-2 win over Hannibal-LaGrange University. Sophomore forward Amy Cassiday (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) also recorded a hat trick with three goals in the victory.

The Bearcats improved to 11-6 overall and extended their winning streak to eight straight games. McKendree travels to Fulton, Mo., on Saturday for its final game of the season at William Woods University at 1 p.m.

Cassiday put the Bearcats in front 1-0 in the 15th minute with a goal off an assist by senior forward Alex Hartwick (Belleville, Ill./Granite City), but the Trojans countered with an unassisted goal by Fernanda Miacci in the 23rd minute to tie the game 1-1. Keomanivane scored her record setting goal in the 28th minute off a free kick and McKendree went into the half with the one goal lead. Keomanivane's goal placed her one goal ahead of Kasey Stogsdill (2001-04) in career goals scored at McKendree. Keomanivane became the all-time leader in career points on October 26th in a victory over Ashford University and is currently also ranked fifth in school history with 24 career assists.

Cassiday struck again in the 57th minute off another assist by Hartwick to extend the lead to 3-1, and sophomore midfielder Sadie Delashmit (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) scored her first goal of the season off an assist by Cassiday in the 65th minute to lead 4-1. Cassiday scored her third and final goal of the contest in the 68th minute off an assist by Keomanivane, and the Trojans scored in the 80th minute off a corner kick to cut the score to 5-2, but it would be of little consequence as the Bearcats won their eighth straight game.

Freshman goalkeeper Taylor Zerbe (St. Louis, Mo./Trinity Catholic) improved to 10-6 overall and had two saves in the win.
