(LEBANON, Ill., September 21)- McKendree University freshman forward
Anthony Grant (Kingston, Jamaica, Jamaica College) scored a goal in each half to help the men's soccer team edge Harris-Stowe State University 3-2 on Wednesday evening.
The Bearcats improved to 7-0 overall and will host Oakland City University on Thursday, September 22, at 6 p.m.
Grant scored his first goal unassisted in the 28th minute to give McKendree a 1-0 lead. Despite outshooting the Hornets in the firts half, 11-1, the Bearcats only held a one goal edge at the break.
Grant struck again in the 51st minute after taking a pass from freshman forward
C.J. Cerna (Collinsville, Ill., Collinsville) and putting it past the Harris-Stowe goalkeeper to put McKendree in front 2-0. Zach Kitrel cut the Harris-Stowe deficit in half in the 57th minute and made the score, 2-1, only for sophomore forward
Kavel Smith (Kingston, Jamaica) to score on a pass from senior defender
Sam James (Southampton. England, Tauntons) in the 65th minute to push the Bearcats to a 3-1 lead.
Leonardo Paterno made the score 3-2 with only a minute left to play, but McKendree did not allow a shot in the final minute to earn the win.

Joe Sagar (Oldham, England, Hulme) improved to 7-0 in goal and had two saves in the win.
