(FENTON, Mo., September 30)- The McKendree University women's soccer team earned its second straight win on Friday by defeating Missouri Baptist University, 4-1, at the AB Soccer Park in Fenton, Mo.

The Bearcats improved to 5-6 overall and will travel to Marshall, Mo., on Monday, October 3rd for a match against Missouri Valley College at 6 p.m.

A defensive miscue by Missouri Baptist in the 37th minute gave McKendree a 1-0 lead when a Spartan defender tried to clear out a pass, but kicked it into their own goal. Freshman midfielder/defender Taryn Butler (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) (Rochester, Ill. / Rochester) scored her first collegiate goal in the 43rd minute off an assist by freshman midfielder Lindsey Ledbetter (Smithton, Ill./Freeburg) (Smithton, Ill. / Freeburg).

Missouri Baptist cut McKendree's lead in half with a goal by Alexis Baez in the 63rd minute, but the Bearcats rebounded to extend their lead to 3-1 in 73rd minute on a goal by junior forward Carlee Luehmann (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) off an assist by freshman midfielder/defender Liz Flowers (St. Louis, Mo./Notre Dame). Freshman forward Natalie Crane (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) (Granite City, Ill. / Granite City) scored McKendree's final goal of the contest off an assist by freshman midfielder/defender Madalan O'Leary (Collinsville, Ill./Collinsville) (Collinsville, Ill. / Collinsville) in the 80th minute to close out the win.

Freshman goalkeeper Taylor Zerbe (St. Louis, Mo./Trinity Catholic) (St. Louis, Mo. / Trinity Catholic) improved to 4-6 overall and had four saves in the win.
