The McKendree University women's soccer team will host two Great Lakes Valley Conference games this weekend, including its first game against a ranked opponent this season.
The Bearcats host No. 12 William Jewell College at 5 p.m., on Friday night. The Cardinals are 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the GLVC this season.
McKendree will then host Rockhurst University on Sunday at Noon. The Hawks are 1-0-2 overall and 0-0-2 in the GLVC this season.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS: William Jewell enters the weekend ranked No. 12 in the latest NSCAA Division II Ranking with an overall record of 4-0 and a 2-0 mark in the GLVC. The Cardinals went 2-0 last week, defeating Drury University, 1-0, on Friday at home, before traveling to Rolla, Mo., on Sunday and earning a 2-1 win over Missouri S&T. Senior forward Sarah Franklin leads the team with three goals and three assists on the season. The Bearcats are 6-3-2 all-time against the Cardinals, including a 3-1-1 mark in their past five meetings. McKendree and William Jewell tied, 1-1, in double overtime on Oct. 14 last season in Liberty, Mo.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS: Rockhurst enters the weekend with an overall record of 1-0-2 and an 0-0-2 mark in the GLVC. The Hawks opened up conference play last Friday with a 0-0 tie at home against Missouri S&T, before traveling to Springfield, Mo., on Sunday and tying Drury, 1-1. Rockhurst currently has three players that have score one goal this season. The Hawks lead the all-time series against McKendree, 1-0, after earning a 1-0 win in the first all-time meeting between the two programs on Oct. 12 of last year.
MILESTONE WATCH: Senior Amy Cassiday (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) currently ranks in the top 10 at McKendree in multiple career categories. She's ranked fifth with nine game-winning goals, is in sixth with 33 goals, and is tied for seventh with 74 points. Senior Maggie Dudas (St. Peters, Mo./Ft. Zumwalt South) is currently sixth all-time at McKendree with 11 wins and is ninth with 80 saves.
