Box Score (SPRINGFIELD, Ill., Oct. 19)—The McKendree University volleyball team wrapped up a long weekend on the road Sunday with a three-set sweep of Kentucky Wesleyan College in a match played at the University of Illinois Springfield. The Bearcats rolled to victory by scores of 25-17, 25-13 and 25-18.
Counting its three contests at the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover Challenge, McKendree won three of four matches on the weekend to improve to 13-9 overall. The Bearcats will jump back into Great Lakes Valley Conference play Saturday when they travel to Rolla, Mo., for a contest against Missouri S & T. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
Against Kentucky Wesleyan, freshman outside hitter
Arela Williams (San Diego, CA/LaJolla Country Day) was the lone McKendree player to reach double figures in kills with 11. Sophomore outside hitter
Bailey Kampwerth (Breese, IL/Mater Dei) contributed eight attacks, while junior right-side hitter
Lauren Apetz (Glenwood, FL/DeLand) and freshman middle hitter
Maria Rasch (Kenosha, WI/Westosha Central) each posted six kills. Rasch, Apetz and sophomore middle hitter
Sophie Fairman (Staunton, IL/Staunton) shared team-high honors with four blocks apiece.

Aubry Dickmann (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) had a team-best 19 assists, while sophomore setter
Rebecca Nauman (Yorkville, IL/Yorkville) helped out with 16 sets. Freshman defensive specialist
Brooklyn Watson (Hannibal, MO/Hannibal) led the back row with a match-high 13 digs for the Bearcats.
The first set was close early until McKendree ripped off six consecutive points to build a 9-3 advantage. Kentucky Wesleyan clawed back within 16-14 before the Bearcats took control in the set by scoring the next five points to regain a 21-14 lead.
McKendree scored five the first six points in the second set on its way to a 16-6 lead. The Bearcats eventually stretched the margin to as many as 14 points in cruising to a 2-0 lead in the match. There were five ties and three lead changes in the third set and was close until the middle stages, when McKendree outscored Kentucky Wesleyan 9-2 to forge a 20-12 advantage.
Summer Alford led Kentucky Wesleyan (9-10) with six kills, while Sarah Swanson handed out 22 assists for the Panthers.
