(LEBANON, Ill., Sept. 15) – The McKendree University women's soccer team will embark on their first road trip of the season. The Bearcats cross the mighty Mississippi River as they visit conference foe Maryville University on Friday for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff before taking on University of Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday at noon.
McKendree enters the weekend with a 3-1 overall record and a 1-1 mark in the GLVC. McKendree suffered a heart-breaking loss Saturday as the fell 1-0 to Truman State University.
Tim Strange's squad rebounded with a victory over Quincy on Sunday thanks to a goal from
Sydnee Carroll (Millstadt, IL/Belleville West) eight minutes into the match.
SCOUTING THE SAINTS: Maryville enters the weekend with a 1-3 overall record and 0-2 in GLVC play. Last weekend the Saints fell twice to conference opponents Bellarmine University 1-0 and University of Southern Indiana 3-1. Sophomore Allison Verville was the only goal scorer for the Saints. Maryville losses their top three goal scores from last season Hana McGinis, Amanda Wiechens and Shannon Foley. Head coach Eric Delabar, who is in his 17
th season at the helm of the Maryville program, returns his starting goal keeper Bailey Doerflinger. Doerflinger (0-2) has started in three matches this season with 180 minutes in goal while Alison Riddle (0-1) has seen 135 minutes of action.
Last meeting: Both teams met last year in conference play at Leemon Field where the Bearcats picked up a 2-0 victory over the Saints. Maryville outshot McKendree 12-11, but goals from
Sydnee Carroll (Millstadt, IL/Belleville West) in the 56th minute and
Chelsea Whittaker (Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand/St Hilda's Collegiate School) in the 86th sealed the win.
All-Time Record vs. Maryville: 6-1-1
SCOUTING THE TRITONS: University of Missouri-St. Louis enters the weekend 1-1 overall and 1-1 in GLVC play. The Tritons picked up a shutout victory over University of Southern Indiana on Friday and fell in overtime to ranked Bellarmine, 2-1. UMSL returns their top three scorers. Taylor Miriam, a First Team All-GLVC honoree, has one goal on the season, after a scoring a team high 11 last year. McKayla Harder netted 10 while Kayla Delgado recorded seven. Freshman Emily Rish has both starts for the Tritons in net. She has allowed two goals and five saves. UMSL will take on University of Illinois-Springfield at home Friday prior to their match Sunday against the Bearcats.
Last meeting: McKendree held the edge on shots 14-7, but it only took one of UMSL's three shots on goal to give the Tritons a 1-0 victory. Kayla Delgado's goal in the 22nd minute was the deciding factor in last year's meeting.

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING: The Bearcats enter the weekend with 14 goals in four matches which currently ranks third in the GLVC. McKendree also currently leads the conference with 91 shots, 43 shots on goal and 14 assists. Individually sophomore
Sydnee Carroll (Millstadt, IL/Belleville West) leads the conference in shots (23), shots per game (5.75) and goals (4). Junior
Chelsea Whittaker (Dunedin, Otago, New Zealand/St Hilda's Collegiate School) is also tied for first in assists with four. Freshman goal keeper
Zoe Brochu (Ajax, Ontario, Canada/Pickering ) currently ranks third in saves with 20.
HOME SWEET HOME: McKendree opened up the 2016 season with a four game home stand. The Bearcats went 3-1 during the stretch at Leemon Field. During the nine day stretch McKendree set a new school-record 48 shots against Oakland City. The Bearcats also outscored their opponents 14-2. McKendree will return back home on Friday, September 23 when they host University of Indianapolis at 5:00 p.m.
